This page has been created to provide a list of free online resources available to MEP programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of these resources would be helpful for recruiters to share with families and youth as they reach out to determine their needs during this time.
Free On-Line Learning/ Teaching Platforms
Newrow is purpose-built for teaching online – virtual classroom software at its core! You can create online courses and engage your participants in virtual classes and webinars all through a completely branded portal. Virtual classes are 100% web-based – no Flash, no downloads, no installations – with collaborative tools like a digital whiteboard, content management system to share presentations and videos, screen sharing, cloud recording, breakout rooms, real-time notes, live quizzes and more.
BigBlueButton is built for online teaching with features such as the ability to share files and your desktop, interactive whiteboard, and up to 15 webcams that can broadcast at one time. BigBlueButton also integrates into most major learning management systems.
What It Is: Book Creator is an easy-to-use tool that helps you create fun and engaging online books. They have lots of suggestions for how you can create and use books with students at any level. What They’re Offering: Teachers always receive one free library with 40 shareable books when they sign up. A collaborative online image and video editor with a cloud storage Workspace. Teachers can make video lessons to send to students for remote learning. Students can work together on a group project. Classrooms can share multimedia projects with each other. Free to educators whose schools are affected by the CoVid-19 closures.
A web and mobile app that provides private student to teacher feedback to a group/class question, so teachers can understand how their students are doing and offer support, with optional anonymity features. It’s available on any device.

Scholastic now offers free day to day projects to help kids keep learning at home. Grades K-9
Free the rest of the school year. Texts (and videos!) for ELA, Science, and Social Studies with scaffolds and higher-order questions Find what you teach and great texts & videos to pair with it. Or add anything you like.
Age of Learning’s School Continuity Initiative provides schools closed due to the coronavirus with free home access for all affected families to leading digital education programs ABCmouse, Adventure Academy, and ReadingIQ. Programs serve students in preschool / pre-k, elementary school, and middle school.
The Iowa MEP program has a student services portal with access to all sorts of learning websites for each grade level. They have free websites for reading, math, writing, STEM and more.

Visit the Zoo!
Most zoos have live webcams in some of their most popular exhibits, such as the Panda Cam at Zoo Atlanta. However, some zoos offer a more in-depth look. You’ll definitely want to check out the San Diego Zoo. Their site for kids includes behind-the-scenes videos and stories, as well as a variety of printable activities and online games.
